Cognac chats with Recording Artist Lenny Revell and Opera Star Cristina Fontanelli - Video by Mauro Botero

My darling friend Recording Artist and Opera Star Cristina Fontinelli came by to have cocktails with me as she told me about all her upcoming events.

Cristina Fontanelli has become a well-known personality through her recordings, her appearances on American and Italian radio, TV, concerts, nightclubs, pops and opera appearances, and through her recent acting debut on network television, where she is receiving rave reviews for her beautiful voice and versatile talent. On January 20, 2005 Cristina Fontanelli was invited to open the ceremonies at the Stars and Stripes Presidential Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C. where she sang for an audience of over 6,000 invited guests and dignitaries. This following her “Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts” from the Order Sons of Italy in America (previous honoree Luciano Pavarotti). A listing of the popular “giants” she has appeared with include Tony Bennett, Joel Grey, Vic Damone and many others. Ms. Fontanelli is a favorite guest artist with many prestigious orchestras including the Boston Pops and the St. Louis Symphony performing in major concert halls throughout the U.S. and the world, including the Lincoln and Kennedy Centers, the Philadelphia Academy of Music, and major concert halls throughout the Far East and Canada.

Last but not least one of the best actors, I adore Joe Manuella stopped in to visit:

Actor, Stunt Double, Comedian- Joseph Manuella- is probably the tops in his field, when it comes to Robert DeNiro Celebrity Impersonation.

The Milliners Guild is an organization of small millinery business owners and milliners who specialize in the design, production and promotion of handmade headwear.

The group is committed to increasing the public profile of millinery as well as the public’s awareness and interest in millinery products.

The Guild is dedicated to working together to maintain and expand resources in order to ensure a steady flow of raw materials.

for more info please visit http://www.millinersguild.org
Through a collective website, special events and educational seminars the guild will provide consistent communication about this thriving and contemporary industry to the public, press and students of the craft.

I had the chance to chat with several wonderful milliners.

About Ellen Christine:

Earning a devoted East Coast following, Ellen Christine hand-constructs hats that have unique appeal. She mixed antique textiles and trims to capture the fanciful nature of the modern woman. As Ellen Christine sculpts velvet roses or an organza brim, each hat seems to take on a life of its own. She imagines each hat “starring in a little movie.” These movies are often interrupted by some matchmaking, as the milliner becomes stylist, transforming a browser into a buyer. “These are hats that are meant to be worn, not kept on a shelf.

There’s a dramatic character inside every person waiting to be dressed.”

For more info please visit www.ellenchristine.com

About Lisa Shaub:

Since I was a girl I always enjoyed sewing and making things for myself. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. in Fine Art, I studied Millinery with Ann Albrezio at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Soon after I completed my degree I found myself with a Women’s and Children’s hat line selling to such stores as Barney’s, Henry Bendel and Fred Segal among others. But my dream was always to have a store of my own. In 1998 that dream was fulfilled when I opened my own boutique in Nolita, New York City.

I have learned a great deal in the seven years that I have had the store, and eighteen years that I have been in business. I have strived for excellence in fit and design, always remaining true to my inner voice. I feel satisfied that my work is well executed and inspires others to take fashion risks in a way that makes them feel better about themselves. I get many ideas from my customers, who come from all over the world to buy my product. A typical customer may be a schoolteacher, costume designer, professional athlete, architect, writer, artist or accountant. Some of the celebrities that have purchased my work include Clare Danes, Audrey Tautou, and Reuben Santiago Hudson.

The items found in the online store of this website are the styles that are most often chosen by my customers. They are designed with your comfort in mind and manufactured with love.

Thank you for shopping here! I would like to invite you to visit my New York boutique where I am always working on something new. There is a larger range of handcrafted and one-of -a kind products you will not find in the online store. Many of these may be custom ordered.

I look forward to meeting you!

Cognac chats with Ilia McCormick about her eco friendly jewelry brand real-jewels.com - Video by Lorenzo Esquivel

During Fashion week I was invited by my dear friend Supermodel and Actress Debbie Dickinson for an ACCESSORIES SHOWCASE PRESENTATION.

Ms. Debbie Dickinson, Ana Martins and Sande Finkel hosted this fabulous press ACCESSORIES SHOWCASE introducing:

Handbag Designer CHRISTOPHER AUGMON,
REAL JEWELS, PIXEL MODA Watches and
Shoe Designer RON DONOVAN at the
International Star Diamond Award Winning
AZALEA RESTAURANT

During the presentation I had a chance to chat with some of the designers.

“The inspiration for Christopher Augmon Handbag Designs comes from the influences that culture has played in my life. Having been exposed to many different customs and ethnicities, I’ve come to appreciate, embrace, respect, and value the richness of a variety of cultures,” said Christopher Augmon, founder, CEO and creative director of Christopher Augmon Handbag Designs.

“Along with these cultural influences is my passion as a designer. Combined, they are the source of my ideas and my ability to create exciting, new looks in handbags that fulfill consumers’ needs for uniqueness, style, individuality, function, and timeless fashion designs.”

Christopher Augmon has also modeled with various companies. These include Bloomingdales, Ralph Lauren, The Jones Store Company, Sears, and Hallmark Cards. Because of these experiences, Christopher Augmon is familiar with the fashion industry and trends. Most importantly is his understanding of the consumers’ desire for “classically unique” distinctive looks, especially when it comes to handbags.

For more info please visit www.augmon.com

Ron Donovan, the company’s founder, creative director and chief shoe builder, graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in industrial engineering. Upon graduating, Donovan worked in technical design and sales for a fortune 500 company. Yielding to a burning desire for entrepreneurship, he left a blossoming corporate career in search of what would be his “right livelihood”. While on his search, his natural inclinations toward fashion led him into professional modeling. It was this experience that exposed a void in the footwear market that he felt passionate about filling. A perfect example of “necessity being the mother of invention”, Donovan’s inability to find stylish high-quality footwear for his size 15 ½ feet sparked his interest in shoemaking. Realizing that his was a frustration shared by many, he established what is now RONDONOVAN.

Drawing from his technical background and his fashion experience, Donovan began teaching himself the craft. Tearing apart old shoes to understand their construction, he began making rudimentary shoes. An opportunity to live abroad enabled Donovan to continue his shoemaking education. There he learned about French and Italian shoemaking from old-world craftsmen. Upon returning to New York, Donovan met two gentlemen with nearly 100 years’ experience between them. Under their tutelage, he transformed himself from a competent shoemaker into a real craftsman. He then began building footwear for a small, but prominent and loyal clientele. Donovan’s fashion experience also includes having served as director of couture for a prominent 7th Avenue couturier, a tenure that gave him even greater insight to the world of fashion.

RONDONOVAN is a New York based builder of luxury footwear and accessories. Initially, they built only bespoke (custom) footwear for men with “extreme size” needs. However, they soon began catering to the needs of men and women of all sizes who appreciate style and understand the value of quality. They now have added ready-made collections to their hallmark bespoke and “extreme size” products.

The ready-made collections adhere to the design philosophy “traditional with a modernistic edge” and reflect Ron’s own eclectic sensibilities and experiences. The results are products that move easily from the boardroom to a night out on the town. At RONDONOVAN, they are as committed to servicing the needs and desires of their loyal friends and clients as they are to craftsmanship.

Again, welcome to RONDONOVAN and enjoy the “experience”.

For more info please visit www.rondonfoot.com

Lastly I interviewed Jewelry Designer Ilia McCormick about her jewelry brand www.real-jewels.com

Real Jewels allows you to indulge your passion for jewelry without compromising the environment. Real Jewels is beautiful green jewelry with a conscience.

The designer altered the sci-fi-goddess meets Forest Nymph. Nature, the Forest smokey wintery hues like grey, white charcoal were the inspiration for this season. Katie is well known for dressing her models in layered, pieced-together separates in velvety whites and silvers.  To achieve the look the models hair was back teased for a science fiction/gothic look.

Katie and I talked backstage about her philosphy on fasion.

She has been quoted as saying:

I LIVE IN NEW YORK, BUT I WAS BORN BETWEEN A FARM AND A FOREST SOMEWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES. WHEN I WAS YOUNG, I HATED WEARING CLOTHES, BUT I ALWAYS WORE MY CAT THOMAS ON MY HEAD. I GRADUATED FROM THE RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND HAVE SPENT MUCH OF MY TIME AT THREEASFOUR AND ANNA SUI. I DON’T BELIEVE THAT FASHION IS THE END GOAL; STORIES, PERSONALITIES, MOODS,
IDEALS, AND ATTITUDES ARE. FASHION, WHEN EXECUTED SUCCESSFULLY, COMMUNICATES THESE ATTRIBUTES QUICKLY AND ELOQUENTLY.

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Donnella from Donnella’s Closet and Designer Christopher Augmon at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

TV Host Cognac Wellerlane interviews Donnella from Donnella’s Closet and Designer Christopher Augmon at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week - Video by Mauro Botero - Cognacscorner.tv is sponsored by by g2Organics.com and Scenterprises.com

During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I met up with Donnella from Donnellacloset.

Donnella’s Closet carries emerging designer brands and established favorites =-
She is a fashion enthusiast like you darlings,

Here’s what she has to say:

if I don’t carry it I want it, if Ido carry it i have it in 3 colors.

I love sharing ideas on accessories!

My mother is always well-dressed. Even as a little girl, I remember my mother always being impeccably dressed. No matter if she was going to the supermarket, picking us up from school or even a quick run to the mall, she always looked perfect.

Not only with great clothes, but wonderful earrings, necklaces and handbags that earned her many compliments from those who saw her.

Now as an adult, I realize this was no easy feat with a husband, and two screaming kids (my younger brother and me) always with her.

It’s funny how things that seem so small, at that time, affect you so strongly later. I realize now my love of stylish handbags and beautiful accessories to finally, Donnella’s Closet – www.shopdonnella.com was influenced by the beauty I always saw in my mother.

– I hope you’ll enjoy these articles, I love writing on fabulous emerging talented designers and the events of course in the world of fashion.

For more info please visit http://shopdonnella.com

I also had the chance to chat with Designer Christopher Augmon.

“I started passionately designing leather apparel 3 years ago. I decided to focus on high-end designer handbags for women and men 18 months ago. I took costing classes at the Apparel Industry Board Inc., but basically (with a lot of hard work) learned handbag designing “organically” by taking several trips to New York City, submerging myself with New York handbag contractors and seeing women and men, especially in the Midwest, wanting great quality, unique, fashionable handbags that could be worn in all seasons and for multiple occasions. I also networked, researched and learned handbag leather, textile and hardware applications from Los Angeles, New York, China and Italy regarding the handbag design industry. I got a lot of help from consultants, mentors and illustrators at the Illinois Institute of Art.”

Christopher launched his first collection of elegantly high-end designed handbags featuring European, Asian,
African and Indian influences Fall 2008. Every handbag in his collection has a name and comes with background
on what inspired the design of each handbag, like “Liza” handbag, dedicated to his wife.
Christopher Augmon Designs are available at specialty boutiques in New York, Chicago, and on the web at augmon.com.

Christopher plays an active role in the Chicago community; namely with At Risk Children programs, which includes serving as a volunteer Executive Board Member on Chicago Youth Programs, and actively participates in mentoring and tutoring teenage boys and girls.

Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He currently resides in Chicago with his wife; he is originally from Kansas City.
