Socialites, Fashionistas and Celebrity Hounds attended a fabulous soiree at Cipriani’s to benefit all dogs in need on December 11, 2009.

The event was hosted by Founder and Editor Wendy Diamond of Animal Fair Magazine.

In 1999, Wendy after adopting her rescued Russian blue cat, Pasha, along with a rescued white Maltese named Lucky, she used her natural spirit, charm, and business acumen and ventured off to start an animal lifestyle magazine and website called Animal Fair (fairness to animals). In the past year Wendy added a new member to her family Wanda a sparkling red beta fish.

Animal Fair is the premier lifestyle magazine and website for animal lovers in support of fairness to animals and animal rescue. Animal Fair is dedicated to highlighting non-profit animal organizations, giving them the opportunity to tell their inspirational stories and to provide contact information so that our readers can become involved. When Animal Fair launched in 1999, 12 million animals were euthanized in shelters. This year the number has reportedly decreased to 6 million! We don’t take all the credit, but we are doing our part to help support animal rescue! Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Renee Zellweger, and Drew Barrymore have all graced the cover with their animals.

Wendy Diamond and her dog Lucky are frequent pet contributors to the Today Show, Fox News, CNN, Good Morning America and media outlets around the world. She has appeared in and on Time Magazine, The View, New York Times, People Magazine, The New Yorker, Vogue, CNN, CBS’ Early Show, Oprah, Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Philadelphia Enquirer, Extra, MTV, VH1, Extra, E!, New York Post, Daily News, London Times, Hello Magazine and local media outlets all over the world.

Wendy Diamond’s natural humor can be read in her two best selling books How to Understand Men Through Their Dogs and How to Understand Women Through Their Cats! Random House is publishing Diamond’s next entertaining albeit informative book titled It’s a Dog’s World in February 2010.  She is currently finishing her  business humor book How to Train your Boss to Roll over is expected to be released in 2011.

I am the proud owner of Eli the Chihuahua, a NYC celebrity who won the Milk-Bone “Make Your and Your Dog Famous” Contest and was featured on the 2007 Milk-Bone Small Dog Biscuit box. A veteran contest winner, his many triumphs include the 2006 Stone Soup Theatre Barking Beauty Pageant, the 2006 Best New York Tails Contest, Grand Prize at the Macy’s Petacular 2007, the 2007 Times Square Masquerade Winner, “Most Smoochable Pooch - New York State” in the 2007 Kibbles ‘n Bits cover dog search, “Best in Show” at Animal Fair Magazine’s 2008 Canine Comedy, “New York Celebrity Dog 2008″ at the 2009 Pre-Westminster Skybark Fashion Show, and a “Red Carpet Performance” Award at the 2007 NSAL DogCatemy Awards. Eli, who has modeled at Pet Fashion Week, on “Rip the Runway” (BET), in a national ad in Bank of America banks, and in books and magazines, is a regular at fundraisers for animal shelters and the American Cancer Society. Eli was featured on the dating reality show Wingman which aired on Fine Living Network, on the show “Man Bites Dog” on Dutch TV, and had a cameo in “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”! Eli recently played the leading role of Heidi Hills and supporting role of Somali Pirate in Lorenzo Borghese’s web series “America’s Next Top Dog: The Princess”.
