I had the pleasure of interviewing the hottest band in New Jersey, Temple Hill, and also Recording Artist Lenny Revell at Feel Good Restaurant and Lounge in Secaucus, New Jersey.  Owner Caesar Sanchez sat down with me  and chatted about his enthusiasm and inspiration for opening this restaurant and night club in the Secaucus, New Jersey district.

Lenny Revell’s musical roots started in Buffalo, NY where at the age of nine, he started piano lessons. Only seven years later, he wrote his first song, and at nineteen, began singing lessons. While playing various piano recitals in nursing homes, churches, and institutions in the WNY area, his love for audience grew. In his late teens, he played at the Lewiston Art Fest in Western New York, and at the Canal Fest of the Tonawandas (NY); where he returned for other performances. During these performances, he was brandished as the “next Elton John.”

Temple Hill is grabbing the attention of music fans around the world and earning a solid reputation for outstanding high-energy shows, strong songwriting and superb musicianship. Beginning with foot-stomping drums and groovy bass lines, Temple Hill adds a hefty dose of funky guitar riffs and some soulful vocals for an undeniable pop / rock sound. This musical combination has already brought significant success. Last June, Temple Hill won the Emergenza US East Coast Finals at New York City’s Webster Hall and in August headed off to the Taubertal Open Air Festival in Rothenburg, Germany to compete at the Emergenza International Finals where they placed 6th from a field of over 6,000 bands. Additionally, tracks from the band’s first release, “The Drive Home,” have been featured on the television shows “Boston Legal” and “All My Children.”

The band was founded by brothers, Jon Paul and Rich Molfetta, who grew up singing R&B songs, but came to appreciate the beauty of Rock & Roll as they dug deeper into the NYC music scene. Inspired to create a Rock band, JP and Rich recruited a few local musicians, including lead guitarist Bobby Studley (2008 Emergenza US East Coast Finals Best Guitarist) and bassist Steve Buona Notte to lay down a few tracks. Soon after completing the recordings, the band submitted to a popular local radio station K104.7-FM for a chance to play on stage at K-Fest, the station’s annual outdoor concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY. Taking a chance, the band submitted the tracks to the station and won the contest! Temple Hill’s first professional gig was playing in front of thousands of screaming fans, as the opener for Good Charlotte!

After K-fest, Temple Hill revised its roster a few times, finally coming up with the right musical chemistry with the addition of guitarist Matt Handler and drummer Adam Tabas as full-time members. In addition to writing and recording songs for “The Drive Home” which was released last year, the band has played shows all over the New York City metro area, gigging at notable venues like Webster Hall, Sullivan Hall, The Knitting Factory, Crash Mansion, and The Bitter End.

Temple Hill is currently working with the management company Got Entertainment and are writing new songs and preparing to record their second CD. Unrestricted by the constraints of fitting a specific type of music seems to allow this band to continue to evolve. Their music is fresh, innovative and astonishingly entertaining!

Temple Hill has a full schedule of engagement dates including appearances at night clubs in the Tri-state area. The original and unrelenting Temple Hill appears to be an act to surely keep an eye on.

Their high energy performances are riveting!
