I had the pleasure of interviewing the hottest band in New Jersey, Temple Hill, and also Recording Artist Lenny Revell at Feel Good Restaurant and Lounge in Secaucus, New Jersey.  Owner Caesar Sanchez sat down with me  and chatted about his enthusiasm and inspiration for opening this restaurant and night club in the Secaucus, New Jersey district.

Lenny Revell’s musical roots started in Buffalo, NY where at the age of nine, he started piano lessons. Only seven years later, he wrote his first song, and at nineteen, began singing lessons. While playing various piano recitals in nursing homes, churches, and institutions in the WNY area, his love for audience grew. In his late teens, he played at the Lewiston Art Fest in Western New York, and at the Canal Fest of the Tonawandas (NY); where he returned for other performances. During these performances, he was brandished as the “next Elton John.”

Temple Hill is grabbing the attention of music fans around the world and earning a solid reputation for outstanding high-energy shows, strong songwriting and superb musicianship. Beginning with foot-stomping drums and groovy bass lines, Temple Hill adds a hefty dose of funky guitar riffs and some soulful vocals for an undeniable pop / rock sound. This musical combination has already brought significant success. Last June, Temple Hill won the Emergenza US East Coast Finals at New York City’s Webster Hall and in August headed off to the Taubertal Open Air Festival in Rothenburg, Germany to compete at the Emergenza International Finals where they placed 6th from a field of over 6,000 bands. Additionally, tracks from the band’s first release, “The Drive Home,” have been featured on the television shows “Boston Legal” and “All My Children.”

The band was founded by brothers, Jon Paul and Rich Molfetta, who grew up singing R&B songs, but came to appreciate the beauty of Rock & Roll as they dug deeper into the NYC music scene. Inspired to create a Rock band, JP and Rich recruited a few local musicians, including lead guitarist Bobby Studley (2008 Emergenza US East Coast Finals Best Guitarist) and bassist Steve Buona Notte to lay down a few tracks. Soon after completing the recordings, the band submitted to a popular local radio station K104.7-FM for a chance to play on stage at K-Fest, the station’s annual outdoor concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY. Taking a chance, the band submitted the tracks to the station and won the contest! Temple Hill’s first professional gig was playing in front of thousands of screaming fans, as the opener for Good Charlotte!

After K-fest, Temple Hill revised its roster a few times, finally coming up with the right musical chemistry with the addition of guitarist Matt Handler and drummer Adam Tabas as full-time members. In addition to writing and recording songs for “The Drive Home” which was released last year, the band has played shows all over the New York City metro area, gigging at notable venues like Webster Hall, Sullivan Hall, The Knitting Factory, Crash Mansion, and The Bitter End.

Temple Hill is currently working with the management company Got Entertainment and are writing new songs and preparing to record their second CD. Unrestricted by the constraints of fitting a specific type of music seems to allow this band to continue to evolve. Their music is fresh, innovative and astonishingly entertaining!

Temple Hill has a full schedule of engagement dates including appearances at night clubs in the Tri-state area. The original and unrelenting Temple Hill appears to be an act to surely keep an eye on.

Their high energy performances are riveting!

For Halloween Got Entertainment and TV Host Cognac Wellerlane from cognacscorner.tv will be presenting to all ghouls and goblins a night of haunting entertainment as the band Temple Hill pulls out their bag of tricks or treats to perform “live” at the hottest scariest place in town at the Bitter End on Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village in New York City on Halloween night.

Cognac chats with Designer Marilyn Lewis from the ‘The House of Cardinali’ at Bonhams New York

November 2 Marks Launch of Online Auction and Broadcast Premiere of ‘The House of Cardinali’ One-Hour Special for  KCET, public television for Southern and Central California, is the recipient of a unique gift: the personal collection of Cardinali couture clothing donated by its creator Marilyn Lewis. With 85 garments in the collection, the gift spans the designer’s incredible fashion career, which captured the attention of trendsetters for more than a decade. On October 19, Bonhams New York displayed 15 Cardinali originals, which was available for online bidding that evening at *www.kcet.org/cardinali.

Marilyn Lewis, restaurateur, fashion designer, and movie producer, has always had a classic sense of style and a gift for knowing “when something seems right.’’ It is this mantra that has made her a successful entrepreneur and designer to celebrities like former First Lady Nancy Reagan, and Dyan Cannon. Lewis launched her foray into fashion in 1966 with an initial 35 designs that caught the attention of Vogue’s legendary editor Diana Vreeland. The “Cardinali Look” became iconic when Marlo Thomas wore her designs in the hit TV show That Girl.

Marilyn generously agreed to donate proceeds from the auction of one hundred signature pieces from her collection to KCET. Twelve pieces from the Cardinali collection will be on display. The original Cardinali pieces will be available for sale at an on-line auction in late October and November.

Cognac chats with Jodi LaBossiere from AminoGenesis Skin Care

I had the chance to interview Account Manager Jodi LaBossiere from AminoGenesis Skin care.

AminoGenesis Skin Care was founded in 2000 after creator Ron Cummings, a longtime sufferer of dermatitis, was recommended a cream for his skin condition. Once he learned everything he could about that cream he used, Ron decided to make the life-changing decision to end his existing career and enter the unfamiliar business of skincare. He learned that the cream was actually a potent mixture of amino acids, essentially the building blocks of all life. All living things, plant or animal, that grows on this planet share exactly the same amino acids – it is the arrangement of amino acids that makes everything and everyone unique. They are the building blocks of every structure in human skin; vital skin proteins like collagen, elastin, lipids and all cellular tissues are made from amino acids. The basis of the AminoGenesis  philosophy is that skin functions fantastically when it is properly nourished and it is with amino acids that skin becomes properly nourished. Several years ago the team of world class doctors, chemists and researchers that Ron enlisted set out to harness the power of amino acids. After about a decade of research and testing, the original AminoGenesis formula was born and the results astounded even those who created it. For more information, please visit www.aminogenesis.com.

This by far was the best Hamptons International Film Festival I have attended to date.  Celebrities and Movie stars swooned ticket holders and hamptonites at local film premiers from Montauk to Southampton attracting approximately 15,000 visitors around the world. The festival was orignated to showcase filmmakers creative ideas in cinema.

Best known for his portrayal of 007 License to Kill James Bond, Pierce Brosnan was on hand to promote his film “The Greatest.”  Still strikenly handsome at age 56, Brosnan spoke to me on the red carpet at the film’s premiere about making the film.”We just loved the material, It touched a nerve in my heart,” Mr. Brosnan expressed.

I also had a chance to chat with Director Shana Feste who submitted the script to Brosnan pleaing her case for him to star in the film.  To her advantage, he loved the story and decided to help her finance the film.

hamptons-film-festival-dirty-oil.jpg

Director Leslie Iwerks and Cognac Wellerlane pose for a Photo-op – Photo by Carlo Mallol

Another favorite film that I was able to interview the Director causing much controvesary was “Dirty Oil.”

Director Leslie Iwerks  spoke to me about her motivation in working on this film in bringing awareness about toxins and environmental issues.

Cognac interviews Director Leslie Iwerks from the film Dirty Oil – Cinematography by Bill Lee Lanndis

The film depicts The oil sands in the Canadian Providence of Alberta as a vast source  of petroleum. The profits for oil companies exploiting the sands are staggering, but at what cost? Leslie Iwerk’s probing documentary, narrated by Neve Campbell, explores the environmental, health and moral ramifications of this booming business, offering hard statistics, sobering forecasts and cautionary tales, among them the story of Dr. John O’Connor, a soft-spoken physician whose study of an alarming rise in the incidence of cancer in an indigenous community near the oil sands almost leads to the ruin of his career.

Cognac interviews Director Jessica Burstein and Roy’s wife, Director Brenda Siemer Scheider – Video by Michael Wellbrock

Another great film “Abbie Cancelled”.  The premise of the movie is about unfortunate circumstances that bring mutual friends to cancels at the last minute, two very different couples are forced to endure a cringingly awkward dinner party involving broken chairs, media job-hunting and recreational huffing. At the Opening Night party I had the opportunity to chat with the Director, Jessica Burstein.  As Dumb Bunny, Writer/Director team Jessica Burstein and Robbie Norris created the MTV campaign, “Don’t Cha,” which won Promax Awards for Best of Cable in 2007. Dumb Bunny is presently developing feature length screenplays, including one for ABBIE CANCELLED.

Cognac interview Writer Douglas Harrington from Hamptons.com and Spa Director Candice Monte from Gurney’s Inn – Video by Michael Wellbrock

An interesting short during the festival that premiered “Smiles” is a seven minute film that combines roy Scheiders expectant actor’s you with his courageous dance with a deadly blood cancer.  Multiple Myeloma at the age of 75.  Using scenes from the actor’s first move, a 1964 silent short of the same name, Roy’s wife, Director Brenda Siemer Scheider, takes us on a powerful journey that weaves the timeless, unsayable moments of life and death.  While the film tells the story of how the brilliant yet unlikely oncologist Dr. Bart Barlogie dedicates his life to inding a cure for Myeloma.  It also expresses a deeper spiritual note of how indivuals summon their inner strength to survive against all odds – to live the life of the death, fully.

Brenda Siemer Scheider spoke to me about the film and how much she truly misses her beloved husband Actor Roy Scheider.

Judy Licht interviews Actress Sharon Stone at “Conversations with Sharon Stone” at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor – Photo by Bill Lee Lanndis

Among the many events, premieres and parties that I attended I truly enjoyed “Conversations with Sharon Stone.”

Sharon Stone is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress and humanitarian. Her diverse body of memorable work has established her as a versatile presence in the world of Hollywood, independent film, and television. While perhaps best known for standout performance in 1992’s top-grossing “Basic Instinct,” Stone has received critical acclaim for her work in Albert Brooks’ “The Muse” Jim Jarmusch’s “Broken Flowers” Sidney Lumet’s “Gloria” and Martin Scorsese’s “Casino” (for which she received an Academy Award-nomination and a Golden Globe for Best Actress). The Hamptons Film Festival was honored to proudly welcome this American film icon as a mentor to their up-and-coming Breakthrough Performers and recipient of this year’s Achievement in Acting Award. Ms. Stone  participated in their annual “Conversation With” discussion series.  Sharon spoke candidly about her struggles in Hollywood before she became a Star and was extremely well received by Hamptonites and the press.

hamptons-film-festival-sharon-stone-talking.jpg

Actress Sharon Stone astonishes her audience at “Conversations with Sharon Stone” at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor during The 17th Annual Hamptons Film Festival – Photo by Bill Lee Lanndis

Glamorously dressed in Dior, Sharon astonished her audience while being interviewed by Judy Licht explaining her audition for “Basic Instinct,” Sharon revealed she purposely  wore an Armani pantsuit and a sheer blouse braless exposing her naked  breast just to prove she had no problem with nudity, she also revealed at the Hamptons Film Festival fans at the Bay Street Theater that she had campaigned eight months for the 1992 role after her manager stole the script from a secretary’s desk. “After 12 actresses turned down the role, it was finally mine,” Stone confessed. Sharon at first was shocked when she first glimpsed at the famous Paul Verhoeven provocative leg-crossing scene. She then later felt it was right for the movie and the character and agreed to let it be released.  Ultimately it changed her career forever making her a star!

If you think the films and the celebrities were outstanding, well the parties were even better.  Gurney’s Opening Night Party is always my favorite choice.  Another favorite was the Maidstone Arms Inn in East Hampton. Their cocktail parties were amazing, plenty of champagne and caviar appetizers darlings!  There were also a list of parties from Montauk to Southampton celebrating this years Hamptons Film Festival.

I had the pleasure of attending a Screening of a Trailer for the Soon to be Released film “Too Good To Be True” starring Gary Silberman.

A comic tale of mistaken identity Too Good to be True follows the exploits of Max (Gary Silberman), a family man about to embark on a business trip with his hard to deal with boss Phil (Joe Marino). Before that trip even begins, we find out Charlie (Dominic Mancino) the local mob boss, is concerned with his daughters engagement to Phil. He hires Kate (Kat Murello) to test his son to be son-in-law’s faithfulness to his daughter during this business trip. Kate has no idea what Phil looks like, but her partner Tony T. (Al Burgo) has seen him before and can ID her target. The two hit men leave Charlie’s office with instructions to test Phil and should he fail, “Put the fear of God into him.”

Max rides with Phil in his new sweet mustang to the hotel where their business conference takes place and from the driveway to check-in, Phil has already put Max in a dread filled mood with the desire to go back home to his family. The trip only gets worse at the hotel bar where Phil finds a table full of business men to drink with and becomes an even larger annoyance then before. Kate makes her way into the bar and mistakes Max for Phil when one of Phil’s drunken companions calls him by the wrong name. This begins the ride of Max’s life which will end with him tied to a chair wearing one sock and his boxers, oh and a gun pointing at his head.

This hilarious short film was Directed by P. J. Galati and Gary Silberman, surrounded by a hard working crew and seasoned cast of professionals. Guest cameos include myself Cognac Wellerlane, Vivilicious, Angelique Monét, Claudia Brown and Lauren Loguidice.

During our interview Mr. Silberman explained that he is preparing for the screening of the film which will take place in December.
