Cognac chats with Restaurant Owner Wolfgang at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse – Video by Mauro Botero

Darlings, I had dinner in so many wonderful restaurants during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, but my favorite choices was Wolfgang Steakhouse Restaurant and the very glamorous Asia De Cuba.

The steak for two was delicious, juicy, tender, and most importantly flavorful. I chatted with owner handsome Wolfgang himself. The restaurant has several locations around the globe including Hawaii and now South Beach in Miami.

Asia De Cuba Restaurant is all about the Soft billowing white curtains, two-story Philippe Starck design and sashaying samba music. The restaurant attracts a sophisticated elegant sexy crowd nightly, and the food has always been spectacular and still is. I love the crispy calamari salad with chayote and hearts of palm and the  miso-cured Alaskan black cod.

I was extremely frantic after running from show to show that it was so pleasurable just sitting and relaxing talking to my dear friend Alison Blackman, Beauty Expert from advicesisters.net who was also just as exhausted as I was.

We chatted about our favorite shows and experiences and how wonderful it was just to luxuriate at The Daily Suites.

Cognac chats with Designers Tamara Pogosian and April Torres at the W Hotel – Video by Mauro Botero

During my week at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I enjoyed many offsite shows including Tamara Pogosian and Sara Shepard.

Tamara Pogosian’s Spring 2010 was inspired by every man’s sensual dream’s desire of the perfect woman. Soft shades of teal, white and silver satin and sequins was the emphasis for this season’s collection.

Tamara also collaborated with jewelry designer April Torres of Isabella Grace Orignals to utilize jewelry pieces with Pogosian’s collection to give the line more impact.

Couture jewelry designer, April Schenk Torres, founder of IsabellaGraceOriginals, has created one of a kind, handcrafted, earth friendly jewelry and accessories using mainly recycled materials to bring original works of art to the fashion world. She thoroughly explores antique stores and estate sales for vintage treasures to inspire her designs then deconstructs and redesigns her findings to form new, innovative, and “green” pieces of wearable art.

Throughout her life, she has developed a true passion for creating all types of artwork. She has worked with many mediums such as painting, charcoal & pencil drawings, pottery and sculpture to name a few. As a determined and open-minded artist, April majored in graphic design throughout her college years. She then started out in the business world making custom handmade invitations and centerpieces, which were often embellished with lace, pearls, and rhinestones. It was at that point her interest in jewelry design began to heighten.

A-list celebrities — Mary Louise Parker, Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley, and Russell Simmons were just a few of the glitteri that came to enjoy Tommy Hilfigers new opening while being served lobster, caviar, and pigs-in-the-blanket on black trays, as suited hotties tended separate bars on all six floors of the store, and pushcarts of ice cold Peroni beers were stationed throughout the sprawling shopping destination.

As for the show in the tents, Glam, Rat Pack inspired clothes from Sinatra’s era, tuxedos, column dresses and gowns mixed in with a little bit of Martha Vineyards collegic blazers and khakis.

Coral and Silver Embellishments was the emphasis a played a bold part in this season’s collection.  The suits were designed with strategically placed cutouts to flatter and enhance women’s curves. Like Rosa Cha Retro headbands were another key touch in styling the look for this season’s collection.  Gorgeous shawls, sexy beaded shear metallic coverups aided in completing the look for resort, pool and beachy cocktail looks.  Great for St. Tropez and Miami Beach.

One of the sexiest shows in the Tents was Rosa Cha. Retro Suits and accessories from 1950s inspired was the theme for this season Spring 2010 Collection. Adored the crystal-studded one pieces, braided a.k.a. tresse monokini. Amir Slama, the Brazilian-born designer behind the Brand did an exceptional job in recreating Hollywood 40-50’s glam via Lana Turner look from “The Postman Only rings Twice.”

Cuz Love Killz Spring 2010 Urban Sexy Chic

Cognac chats with sexy new designer Andrea Cuomo from Cuzlovekillz.com – Video by Lorenzo Esquivel

During the shows outside of the Tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010 I happened to catch the hot new brand cuzlovekillz.com

This new label is designed by 19 year old Fashion Designer Andrea Cuomo.

Andrea Cuomo came to New York at the age of six from Bogotá, Colombia. Raised in Queens, Andrea was exposed to the street art scene and became very involved in it’s dominant culture. She first began incorporating her talent with graffiti on canvases. Always seeking to perfect her craft she tested out and experimented with different elements and styles. This garnered her recognition and led to her work being showcased on websites and the streets of NYC. After graduating from Fashion Industries High School, followed by F.I.T., she landed an internship with designer Camilla Staerk. After the internship, she worked on a freelance basis and eventually became an integral part of the Staerk team.

In 2008, Andrea met Jacinto Onofre, a fellow colleague at Staerk and quickly discovered they both had so much in common. Sharing similar backgrounds, upbringings, and interests, this helped fortify a tight bond between them. Jacinto, aside from working on production for Camilla Staerk, was also an established fashion stylist working on high-end editorials and ad campaigns. Upon seeing Andrea’s work, they both decided to enter into a partnership to produce a T-shirt line, utilizing Andrea’s artwork as prints.

The collaboration between Andrea and Jacinto has led to the creation of CUZ LOVE KILLZ. A simple yet colorful, urban but chic, stylish casual wear line. The centerpiece of this collection is based on the condemned heart icon, healing from being broken. There are also several other graffiti elements included in this line tying in with the morbid love theme. The fabric is constructed from ultra lightweight cotton that provides comfort and style.

Lorick Spring 2010 Three Mediums

Cognac chats with Designer Abigail Lorick during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010 – Video by Lorenzo Esquivel

Lorick’s Spring Collection was inspired by Three Mediums in a Artful playful kind of way, very much like the streets of Montmarte in Paris. The collection was shown in a retro beatnik Parisian cafe style at the Tribeca Grand.  Retro inspired prints galore, muted blues and juicy corals were the strong color hues in the collection.

The collection was showcased in three vignettes, the Watercolor, the Pastel and the Acrylic.

The crowd sipped cocktails while enjoying the show and I must say it was very Audrey Hepburn from “Breakfast at Tiffanys.”

Very wearable for today’s career gal, Very 60’s. I loved it
