Elaborate hats, parasols, turn of the century trailing long dresses and designer gowns galore added a special touch of old world elegance at Southampton Hospital’s 51st Annual Summer Party held under the tents to benefit Southampton Hospital’s Emergency Services.

The Southampton Hospital Foundation celebrated the Hospital’s 51st Annual Summer Party on Saturday August 1, 2009.  The event was Chaired by Sheila O’Malley Fuchs and took place under the tents on Wickapogue Road in Southampton.  The Hospital was also  pleased to announce that Christie Brinkley  accepted the position as honorary chair for this year’s event.  As in past years, the evening benefited the Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine.    “Southampton Hospital is truly fortunate to have such a loyal community to support the tradition of the annual summer party,” comments Steven M. Bernstein, Southampton Hospital’s Foundation President,  “This support is critical to the delivery of quality emergency services considering the geographical isolation of the East End communities.”

Christie Brinkley is more than one of America’s most successful and recognizable models, she  has also achieved success as an artist, writer, photographer, designer, actress, political and environmental activist, and perhaps most importantly to her, a mother of three. Ms. Brinkley is an active and dedicated supporter of many organizations and worthwhile causes mainly focused on the well-being of children and the world they live in.  She is the proud recipient of many humanitarian awards and has been honored by many distinguished organizations such as Mother’s Choice, Redbook Magazine’s “Mothers and Shakers Award,” Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award, as well as Cookie Magazine’s “Smart Cookie Award.”

A Ford Model’s superstar, Ms. Brinkley has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, both in the United States and Europe. She has been the subject of articles appearing in numerous, major publications.

According to Southampton Hospital President and CEO, Robert S. Chaloner, “This year’s event takes place during a year in which we are celebrating our centennial.  We are gratified by the community support Southampton Hospital has received throughout our first 100 years. We are looking forward to serving our East End communities well into the future.”
