Joan Rivers hated by Female Poker Players

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Hello darlings,

Welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine

Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers is now hated by female poker players when she went off on pro player Annie Duke on “Celebrity Apprentice” last week. Rivers, upset that Duke and Brande Roderick had conspired to boot daughter Melissa out of the show, screamed at Duke, “Poker players are trash, darling! Trash!” before calling her a “Nazi.” Rivers, who’s been receiving loads of irate e-mails, called us and said, “Oh, calm down! I said it about one person. How can I hate poker players? Did you ever look at the cards? Everyone knows I love queens. Poker playing is a very noble profession. A little-known fact is Florence Nightingale had to choose between nursing and cards.”

Stain or No Stain for Jill Zarin

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine

Jill Zarin

Bravo Realty TV Star Jill Zarin from the “The Real Housewives of New York” borrowed a Chloe dress from the high-end boutique Intermix for her daughter, Ally, a week ago Tuesday.

“Jill was at the store and acting like a total nightmare. Her stylist took home all these dresses and then returned one with a huge stain down the front,” said our insider. “She didn’t offer to pay for the dress or even say she would pay to have it cleaned.”

But Zarin told Page Six that “the dress had a tiny little spot on it” when her stylist, Eric Stern, sent it to her. “I told my daughter to wear it on the carpet for [charity] Operation Smile anyway. Nobody would notice it, and she could bring it back.”

Zarin said her college-bound daughter “returned the dress on time and told the store the truth” by pointing out the spot.

Stern backed Zarin, saying he pulled dresses for all six of the stars of “Real Housewives” that day.  It seems to me darlings that The Boutique “Intermix” is looking for even more publicity and they can never get enough.

The original cast from 9 to 5 the movie attended The Opening Night Musical on Broadway last night including Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine

Original cast from the film adaptation “9 to 5″

The original cast from 9 to 5 the movie attended The Opening Night Musical on Broadway last night including Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

The three actresses were thrilled to bring this new and improved version to Broadway to a whole new audience.  Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda starred in the sensational movie version 28 years ago.
“I had an opportunity to write about 15 more songs about women taking over and being empowered” – Ms Parton has composed a series of special songs, accompanied with her own lyrics, that complement the original song.  Ms. Parton wrote and sang the film’s original theme song, said the stage adaptation has given her the chance to create more songs for the Broadway version.

Marc Kudish and Megan Hilty in the Broadway Musical Adaption 9 to 5

The Broadway adaption has already succeeded in picking up a record 15 nominations for the Drama Desk awards and is expected to sweep up more awards.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it picks up the Tony darlings.  When the original ensemble of incredible actresses starred in this original film adaption it depicted the sexist exploitation of the workplace taking sexual harassment out of the closet and revolutionized the workplace for career women everywhere.  Yet even today women are still battling discrimination in the workplace.  Ms. Parton is truly a role model coming from the impoverished hills in midwestern America, she now is a women’s crusader, entrepreneur and enormous entertainment star along with Actress Comedian Lily Tomlin and Actress Jane Fonda who have successfully maintained their showbusiness careers overcoming many obstacles.
Indeed Allison Janney, Stephanie Block and Megan Hilty have tremendous shoes to follow.
