Cognac interviews Photographer Shane Gritzinger and attends Panel Discussion for “An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving” Starring Jacqueline Bisset
During the Festival I had the chance to meet Jacqueline Bisset and attend the Panel Discussion for the Hallmark Presentation “An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving.” Later I Interviewed Press Photographer about his photo-op with Actress Jacqueline Bisset.
Screenwriter: Shelley Evans
Producers: Michael Prupas (Executive Producer), Steve Solomos, Jesse Prupas
Editor: Jean Beaudoin
Cinematographer: Mitchell Ness
Music Composer: Jean Beaudoin
Cast: Jacqueline Bisset, Kristopher Turner, Tatiana Maslany, Helene Joy, Paula Boudreau
Set against the snowy backdrop of nineteenth century New England, AN OLD FASHIONED THANKSGIVING is based on a story by Louisa May Alcott, author of the beloved classic Little Women. Our heroine, Mathilda Bassett (or ‘Tilly, her preferred nickname), is very much like Jo March: an aspiring writer, quick-witted, and a typically headstrong teenager. With her family struggling financially after her father’s sudden death, ‘Tilly secretly writes to her grandmother, whom she has never met, hoping Grandmother Isabella, a wealthy New York socialite, will help the Bassett household.
Jacqueline Bisset has been an international film star since the late 1960s. She received her first roles mainly because of her stunning beauty, but over time she has become a fine actress respected by fans and critics alike. Bisset has worked with such directors as John Huston, François Truffaut, George Cukor and Roman Polanski and co-starred with actors of the caliber of Anthony Quinn, Linda Hamilton, Paul Newman, Leelee Sobieski, Armand Assante and Candice Bergen.
Her somewhat French-sounding name has led many to assume that she is from France, but she was brought up in England and had to study to learn French. Her mother is French and was an attorney before being married. As a child Jacqueline studied ballet. During her teenage years her father left the family when her mother was diagnosed with disseminating sclerosis; Jacqueline worked as a model to support her ailing mother and eventually her parents divorced, an experience she has said she considered character-strengthening. She took an early interest in film, and her modeling career helped pay for acting lessons.
Jacqueline’s stunning looks and figure made quite a splash in The Deep (1977). Her underwater swimming scenes in that movie inspired the worldwide wet T-shirt craze, and Newsweek magazine declared her “the most beautiful film actress of all time”. However, she hated the wet T-shirt scenes because she felt exploited. At the time of filming she was not told that the filmmakers would shoot the scenes in such a provocative way, and she felt tricked.
She received Golden Globe nominations for her roles in Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978) and Under the Volcano (1984). In 1996 she was nominated for a César award, the French equivalent of the Oscar, for her role in Cérémonie, La (1995).
Bisset has never married, but has been involved in several long-term romantic relationships. She continues to make numerous films, and frequently participates in film festivals and award ceremonies around the world.

Cognac interviews Director Matt Tyrnauer at Opening Night for the movie premier Valentino: The Last Emperor – Video by Mauro Botero
The Hamptons International Film Festival was founded to celebrate the Independent film – long, short, fiction and documentary – and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of
international films and filmmakers to entertain inspire and amuse audiences.
The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all.
The 16th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival took place on October 15 – 19, 2008
This year I attend the opening night premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor directed Matt Tyrnauer.
Valentino has been an iconic fashion designer for forty-five years. He is the pride of Rome, the eternal city.
He is plagued by questions about retirement, and by the new bottom line thinking of the financiers who have taken control of haute couture. As a child he dreamed of the beautiful women of the silver screen.
Dressing them became his obsession: I love beauty, he says, it’s not my fault. Every item in all of his collections is hand-sewn by the hundred seamstresses who turn Valentino’s drawings into such fabulous dresses that first lady Jacqueline Kennedy decided to have her entire wardrobe done by him. Beyond the backstage bedlam, onstage glamour and offstage business dealings, Valentino is revealed as an exacting, stubborn and emotional man.
Fit, trim and perfectly coiffed into his seventies, he throws himself completely into the work that is the love of his life, even as forces conspire to wrest control of his company away from him and his life and business partner, the dapper, insightful and deeply loyal Giancarlo Giammetti. In the end it is always Valentino who makes the show and then steals it with the power of his genius and indomitable will.
Cognac interviews Actress Anamaria Marinca at the Hamptons Film Festival – Video by Mauro Botero
I also had the chance to chat with Actress Anamaria Marinca about her role in the film “Boogie”
In the Romanian film, BOOGIE, Directed By: Radu Muntean, the central character, Bogdan, (Boogie to his friends) is on weekend holiday with his wife and their three year-old son. Overworked and desperate to relax, Boogie struggles to adjust to the erratic whims of a child and demands of his wife.
At every turn, they seem committed to stopping him from enjoying himself.
Then he runs into his still-single high school buddies who are also in town for the weekend.
Boogie longs to re-connect with his friends – and their youthful days of late night drinking and carousing. Needless to say, his wife is not too happy about this.

Cognac interviews Australian Director Elissa Downs at the Hamptons Film Festival – Video by Mauro Botero
Another film receving quite a bit of press was “The Black Baloon” directed by Elissa Downs.
An Australian film, “The Black Baloon” is a sensitive story revolving around character Thomas.
All Thomas wants is a normal adolescence but his autistic brother, Charlie, thwarts his every opportunity.
Will Thomas, with the help of his girlfriend, Jackie (Gemma Ward), accept his brother
Toni Collette stars in this funny and heartwarming first feature from Australian director Elissa Downs.

Old Clip of PRINCE performing at an Awards Show
Legend Star Prince rocked the house on the rooftop of the Gansevoort but the show almost didn’t go on because many audiences members refused to turn off their cellphones.
A certain publicist involved with the show – claiming they had to have them on at all times. “It was so obnoxious,” one fan revealed. “To think a bunch of idiots can’t exist without their precious cells for an hour.”
Other celebrities that attended the concert were Dave Chappelle, Spike Lee, Anderson Cooper, Howard Stern and Dennis Rodman who joined in bopping to tunes like “1999″ at the Inocente Tequila event benefiting Love 4 One Another. Earlier Prince the control freak had the staff at Gansevoort staffers working over time to meet his demanding needs. “He’s very anal and required a humidifier in every room of his suite and the windows blacked out,” a source revealed.
Kelly Ripa Talks about the Madonna Concert on Regis and Kelly
Meanwhile Lindsay Lohan was ignored again at Madonna’s Madison Square Garden show Sunday when Madge gave Kelly Ripa her microphone during her performance of “Give It to Me” instead of to La Lohan, who was standing right next to Ripa in the front row.
Designer Betsey Johnson was also spotted rocking out to the 50-year-old pop queen when Madonna shouted at her, “Show some respect and get off your ass!”

LUCIE Arnaz was stuck in traffic the other night trying to get to Lo renzo’s Cabaret at the Hilton Gar den Inn on Staten Island. So she called owner Rich Nicotra and told him to have a martini – or two – ready. Arnaz was checking the place out before she performs there Oct. 17. She liked Lorenzo’s so much, she stayed to watch Tony LoBianco do his one-man Fiorello LaGuardia bit in “Hizzoner.”
Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine
Madonna is now considered a demanding Diva even to her colleagues and peers. The Swedish pop star Robyn was psyched when the Material Mom invited her to open for a handful of her European concerts but quickly found out there are rules. Robyn told her hometown Swedish paper that she and her crew were told “not to approach Madonna, not to speak to Madonna and, above all, no pictures . . . I hadn’t expected any glamour, but it’s strange that they assume that the first thing you’re gonna do is run after Madonna and ask for an autograph. My worst nightmare would be to turn into Madonna . . . Madonna is constantly chasing the latest trends.”

OMNALUO is a China-based company engaged in designing, developing, marketing and distributing fine women’s apparel launched its first real fashion show in the United States on Friday September 12 by presenting its Spring/Summer 2009 collection at the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. “OMNIALUO symbolizes the entrance of Mainland Chinese fashion design into the international arena,” wrote China Fashion Week ( http://www.cfw.com.cn ), a reputable Chinese apparel publication, on September 12, 2008. Cognac interviews Designers Nico and Adrian before the show – Video by Lorenzo Esquivel
I am back from the romantic city of lights Paris France. I will be talking about my fabulous trip but first lets get back to the remainder of Fashion Week. I have been on such a whirlwind that I didn’t get to finish Fashion Week. Fashion Week came to a close with several shows.
Nico and Adrian talked about their inspiration for the Spring 2009 collection. The soft natural shade and hues of nude were the major influences for Spring 2009. Earth tones, soft pink, coral, soft shades of tan, beige and neutrals all collaborated with perfect harmony using easy fabrics to offset the collection.

Cognac chats with Broadway Star from Hairspray and Recording Artist Aubrey O’Day from Danity Kane before the show – Video by Lorenzo Esquivel
One of the beautiful models on the runway at the Nico and Adrian show was Recording Artist Aubrey O’Day from Danity Kane.
Since her first performance on stage at the early age of 5, Aubrey O’Day has been addicted to entertaining the public. “I lived on the stage, and even at 6, slept behind the seats of the theatre”. According to her mother, when Aubrey was 6 she was at a performance of the Nutcracker and started to cry. Her mom asked her during intermission what was wrong, and Aubrey replied, “I am crying because I am sitting in the seats watching, instead of being up on stage!” Aubrey believes that is when she ‘officially’ realized she loved entertainment. She pursued her love of performing through the years with various leads in many musical productions, including Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Carmen in Fame, Sandy in Grease, Liesl in The Sound of Music, Tzeitel in The Fiddler on the Roof, Mimi in Rent and the list goes on and on. From her first competition, Aubrey has not only been recognized by judges and audiences alike, but has been remembered and stood out in a crowd as a star. In 1992, she received her first honor, the SCETA Distinguished Theatrical Performance Award and from there moved on to receive several others, including the Desert Theatre League’s Outstanding Juvenile Performer in 1995, the Starmania Nationals’ Junior Pop Vocalist in 1996, the California Arts’ Scholar in Music and in Dance twice in 1997, a nomination for the Desert Theatre League’s best supporting actress in 1998, the Desert Theatre League’s Best Actress in 1999 and was one of the top five finalists for the 98.7 Be a Star Contest. Aubrey stared in the hit T.V. show “Making the Band 3″, and was chosen personally by renowned hip-hop artist and producer Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs and Johnny Wright, for a spot in The Band later named, Danity Kane. “You’ve been like a captain of the group to me just by leading by example. You’ve displayed the hunger and perseverance that it takes to be a super star.” Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs.
Aubrey was born an only child in San Francisco and from there moved to the Desert at age three, but has always felt like she grew up in LA because she spent most of her time performing and auditioning. From the Desert, she moved to Newport Beach for college and has spent the last four years there. Aubrey has recently moved to the Big Apple and is working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry focusing on her talent as a singer, dancer and performer. Through Danity Kane, Aubrey has collaborated with various artists and producers – Scott Storch, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan-Michael Cox, Jim Johnson, and Timbaland among others – to tap into her creative side and explore herself musically. Drawing from influences including Diana Ross, Tracy Chapman, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Michelle Ndegeocello, Arrested Development, Billie Holiday, BB King, The Roots, Tori Amos, Ani Defranco, Dave Mathews Band, Ben Harper and many others, Aubrey has the talent and determination to continue on her road to success.
Although leading an exceptionally busy schedule, Aubrey O’Day devotes any free time she has to charity work. After graduating high school, she went on to college and spent a semester at sea. This is where she learned of her love for charities. While touring the world in such places as Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Tanzania, South Africa, Brazil, Cuba and many more, she worked with many service organizations. She worked in orphanages, refugee centers, battered women facilities and hospitals but most passionately with children with AIDS. “I loved every minute of it and thus found my second passion to performing…charity!” Since then she has started one of her own, called FAN (Fight AIDS Now). Her mission is to work hands on giving therapy and art to the children in hospitals. She has also donated her time to Responsibility (responsibilityonline.org), being a Big Sister and to The Pink Project, which is an organization that donates to RAINN and LABCA. You can see her in their star studded book in stores now. She will also be walking in the Celebrity Catwalk Charity event next month to raise funds and awareness for National Animal Rescue.
Aubrey has wanted to be a super star since she was born! She used to dress up in big heels, mini skirts, and put tons of glittery lipstick on and perform for not only her family and friends but anyone willing to watch. Oprah has already compared this rising star to some of today’s top icons, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. Most recently featured in Blender magazines Hot 100, Stuff magazines Hit List and Maxim’s Top 100, Aubrey O’Day is a star. She is destined to spend her life on stage and in the public eye. She captures her audience not only with her outstanding looks, her girlish smile, and her passion for dancing but most importantly her unmistakable talent. “At this point in my life, the stage has taught me the things I value most in my character: compassion, patience, and eternal love for anything or anyone expressive and unrestrained.”
