Hello darlings, Welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine.

Host of Chelsea Classics Hedda Lettuce and Cognac Wellerlane at Chelsea Cinema

Every Thursday night darlings you may see me at the Chelsea Cinema located at West 23rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenue in the Chelsea area of Manhattan.

Each week Chelsea Cinema hosted by the divine and very glamorous Hedda Lettuce brings another favorite classic film for your viewing.

Last night I enjoyed watching the classic Joan Crawford flick “Sudden Fear” directed by David Miller in 1952.  The synopsis of the film is about a Wealthy glamorous San Francisco heiress and successful playwright Myra Hudson (Joan Crawford), falls madly in love with, and marries, gigilo and opportunist actor Lester Blaine (Jack Palance) whom she has just fired from her most recent New York play. Blaine and his seductive mistress Irene Neves (Gloria Grahame) plot to kill Hudson before her new will – limiting her new hubby’s inheritance – takes effect.

Lots of great scenes in the film darlings, especially when the cat screeches at the end.

Next week they will be showing on Thursday March, 22nd another one of my favorites in honor of Joan Crawford’s birthday “Johnny Guitar” directed by Nicholas Ray in 1954.
So get the popcorn ready and come on down every Thursday night to Chelsea Cinema and enjoy another great evening at the Movies.

Hairmax Lasercomb Launch Party at Bruno Jamais Restaurant

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine.

The Champagne was pouring and delicious delicacies were being served as the social set of Manhattan  arrived yesterday evening at Bruno Jamais’s Restaurant to celebrate he launch of Hairmax LaserComb.

I had a chance to meet and talk to many exciting individuals who enlightened me about this fabulous revolutionary new product.  I briefly interviewed Founding Surgeon and Medical Director for Medical Restoration, Dr. Matt L. Leavitt who explained the benefits of this astounding new product which is presently breaking new ground.

bruno-jamais-dr-levitt.JPG
Dr. Matt L. Leavitt
He briefly discussed that the HairMax LaserComb was designed and developed in Australia and is manufactured in the USA under strict quality oriented standards. The LaserComb is also patented in the USA with additional patents pending around the world.

The founding Director Henry Pearl was a pioneer in the use of laser technology at a leading skin and hair care clinic and research center in Sydney, Australia from as early as 1986.

In Australia, Mr. Henry Pearl developed and sold a single laser probe for the hair, which has been selling productively to clients for self-care use since the 90’s. The average sale price was A $2000. Client satisfaction was significant.

The energy parameters we chose for use in the HairMax LaserComb are the result of years of observing and analyzing the effects of lasers on thousands of individual cases. This is supported by research program, as well as  ongoing studies of related clinical trials of hair lasers around the world.

There have been over 3,500 positive scientific studies of Laser PhotoTherapy (Low Level Laser Therapy) published internationally to date. In 2003, an independent report by the Hair and Scalp Clinic of Clearwater, Florida was published in a peer reviewed medical journal. This landmark study demonstrated the correlation between LaserComb use and positive benefits to users.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame To Celebrate “DEFINITIVE 200″ Campaign

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Hip Hop Rapper Chuck D from Public Enemy

Hello darlings, welcome to Cognac’s Corner.

Hip Hop Star Chuck D from Public Enemy arrived an hour and half late at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Press Conference to celebrate “Definitive 200″ Campaign at J& R Music and Computer World.

The world famous rapper was held up in traffic in a yellow cab because of war protesters protesting outside of J&R Music World against President Bush sending more troops to Iraq yesterday afternoon. Amazing Chuck D looked casual in jeans and a cap as he spoke to press about the Definitive 200.

He is thrilled about the latest induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Public Enemy’s most obvious influences, Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash.  Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Definitive 200 is The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame collaborated together to put together a list of 200 albums that should be in every music collection. As NARM president Jim Donio puts it, they are “albums that have consistently excited record buyers over the years and those that have the potential for continued success based on enduring popularity…. The inevitable debate about the 200 must-own albums will underscore just how much the music and the art form mean to everyone.”

For more information please visit www.definitive.com and www.rockhall.com. to learn about the Definitive 200.

Broadway Bombshell Scarlett

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner

scarlet1.JPG

Scarlett Johansson

Movie star and sexy screen siren Scarlet Johansson may be cast in playing the part of Nellie Forbush in the much anticipated revival of “South Pacific”‘ at Lincoln Center.

Respected Director Bartlet Sher and Lincoln Center are working on the plans right now for the

January 2008 production.  How exciting! Both Bartlet and Lincoln Center were responsible
for for arranging the Tony Award winning production of “The LIght in the Piazza” and they are thrilled about this new project.

My sources revealed that Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein adore Scarlet Johnansson and her publicity team and agents have notified the production company that she is dying to star in the Broadway show.

Kelli O’hara from the “Pajama Game” and movies star Reese Witherspoon are also being
considered for the part, but darlings my money is on gorgeous Scarlett.

Production is interested in the leads being very sexy and provocative so they are also
considering Russian Opera Singer Dimitri Hvorovstovsky to play the South Seas plantation owner de Becque who falls madly for Nellie.   Broadway Actress Mary Martin and Ezio Pinsa was cast in the original Broadway production in 1949.  In the film Mitzi Gaynor and Rossano Brazzi played the leads She also met with the famed Andrew Lloyd Webber to discuss working on the revival of “The Sound of Music” and there is talk she may be cast in “Flower Drum Song”.

It seems the Blonde Bombshell has the Broadway Bug darlings!  Maybe her new nickname will be Broadway Bombshell Scarlett?  What do you think?

Heather’s Paul-imony

Monday, March 12th, 2007

 paul-mccartney.jpg

Paul McCartney

Hello darlings, Welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine.

Ex-Beatle wife, Heather Mills has decided to be civilized and put her daughter Beatrice’s welfare first.  Ms. Mills has decided to end her ongoing bitter feud with husband Beatle Paul McCartney.  The couple have been battling for weeks.  She has now agreed to a $56 million deal settlement.

According to my sources Heather will be getting one of the ex-Beatle’s homes.  It will most likely be a gorgeous stately $8 million dollar Georgian mansion in London’s Tony St. John’s Wood up scale neighborhood. She has also given up sole custody of their daughter Beatrice.  Heather just wants to get on with her life and came to the agreement after weeks of bitter feuding with her husband Paul.

My source revealed that during one hostile phone call, McCartney screamed at Heather, “I just can’t wait until I never have to see your bloody face again!” (Paul, darling that’s not nice!)
Heather retaliated, “You’ll never get rid of me!” McCartney also viciously attached Heather by saying her new gig on “Dancing With the Stars” was a tacky move.  Paul Predicted that Heather would be a “reality-TV freak like Anna Nicole Smith.”  (Ouch, Paul come on, ease up.)

Heather will also receive a measly $20,000 a day, just “to get by”.  The News of the World reported. Ms. Mill will also receive $8 million in cash.  Apparently Mr. McCartney’s attorneys were worried that Heather would leave the country with Beatrice and take up permanent residence in the United States while filming “Dancing with the Stars” and that would have put Paul over the edge.

There are also allegations that Paul was an abusive husband emotionally and physically.  My source revealed that he stabbed her with a broken glass, pushed and shoved her, poured wine over her in public and violently pushed her over a coffee table, (Paul darling, you need to take anger management).  Ms. Mill’s legal team has witnesses, medical evidence and tapes to support her claim.

For now the couple have stopped arguing and agreed on this settlement for their daughter’s sake and to get on with both their lives.

The Material Girl is Back

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

madonna.jpg

Madonna (Photocredit: http://www.madonnalicious.com)

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner.

After making all that money last year the Material Girl has now decided to come back to her favorite city in the whole wide world.  Madonna was seen mansion hunting this past week in New York City while real estate brokers went into a frenzy finding the appropriate place for the Material Girl or should I say Material Mom to lay her hat.

It seems Madonna has gotten quite bored living in the English Countryside.  I guess all that fresh air can get on your nerves darlings!

Madonna seems to be really serious about living here again and my sources tell me that she made a special trip to Manhattan to focus on buying a spectacular grand home with dramatic cathedral ceilings, large opulent entertainment rooms, marble floors and a majestic entrance with a million dollar staircases fit for a glamorous movie star, you know just like Joan Crawford.  She is really intent on finding just the right mega mansion home for her and her family.  That’s right darlings; she would even like to send her kids to school here.

The forty-eight year old pop star visited a Beaux Arts- style Mansion.  Her taste believe it or not is very traditional.  The town house mansion is 14,700 square feet with six elevated levels which include 10 bathrooms, (she will be very clean), seven grand bedrooms, (lots of company), three kitchens (lots of places to eat), separate servants quarters (lots of maids to pick up the material girls knickers) a gym with sauna, (so Madonna can work those abs), billiards room and a lovely English garden, (to remind her of her home in London).  This fabulous mansion is complete with high ceilings, marble floors and romantic fireplaces (so she can be warm at night, you know those palaces can be drafty at night darlings!)  The master suite has (where Madonna will sleep) its own floor with a library and study, two separate bathrooms for him and her and a larger dressing room (for all Madonna’s Versaci gowns and designer knickers).

The 103-year-old town house is presently owned by renowned architect Emilio Ambasz and was the property was purchased for $3.2 million in 1992.  According to my sources Madonna also visited several other mansions on 67th Street, East 69th Street and East 96th Street all between Fifth and Madison Avenue, a far cry from where she use to live in New York City when she was eating out of garbage pals.

She is adamant about living in her own home after going through red tape of co-op boards, said one real estate source because of her previous bad experiences.  Another real estate source said she is also looking at a six-story limestone town house near Carnegie Hill area, which was built by Philadelphia heiress Lucy Drexel Dahlgren in 1916 and then later sold the property in 1920 to Pierre Cartier the famous jeweler.

You know wherever Madonna will lay her hat darlings it  is going to be absolutely fabulous and she will probably have a pretty swanky spectacular soiree to celebrate the grand opening so keep reading, more celebrity new at Cognac’s Corner Magazine coming up darlings!

Get Well Soon Darling

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Hello darlings, Welcome Back to Cognac’s Corner.

 johnny-depp.jpg

Johnny Depp

Fabulous actor Johnny Depp has been at the bedside of his adorable precious daughter Lily-Rose age 7 at a London Hospital.  Apparently Lily-Rose contracted blood poisoning from stepping on a rusty nail.

The wound was not treated properly developing into blood poisoning.

The nasty infection  spread like a vine throughout her delicate little body and affected her vital organs, a source told In Touch Magazine.

Depp has moved from his home in France to a country farmhouse in England to film his new movie “Sweeney Todd”.

A rep for Depp announced recently that the daughter is doing much better.

We are all happy to hear that, right darlings!

Madonna Made Big Bucks Last Year.

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognacs Corner.

01dec1990.jpg

Madonna (Photocredit: http://www.madonnalicious.com)

Our favorite Material Girl pulled in a whopping $175 million in 2006 and they said blondes are dumb!  One of the oldest bands that are still together, The Rolling Stones yanked in $234 million last year.  Lucky for Madonna she gets to have all the money for herself.  The Stones will have to divy it up among Charlie Watts, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and the rest of their entourage.  Tim McGraw, Bon Jovi and U2 round out the top 5 for last year.

Babs Streisand came in at lucky No. 11 with $67 million and the extraordinary talented Sir Elton John is No. 15 at 49 million.

Johnny Cash who has been dead for years believe it or not was No. 17 at $48 Million.

Special Screening of “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” on Wednesday March 7, 2007.

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Hello darlings, welcome back to Cognac’s Corner Magazine.

cillian-murphy.JPG

Director Ken Loach and Star of the Film Cillian Murphy

A who’s who of the New York social scene flocked to the Museum of Modern Art for A Special Screening of “The Wind That Shakes the Barley” on Wednesday March 7, 2007.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley is a powerful film about two brothers Teddy and Damien in 1920 Ireland. Damien is a medical student at Unversity College and prefers to finish his education at the the London Hospital where he has situated himself a place and Brother Teddy is the leader of a guerrilla squad fighting for what he believes in, freedom and independence of his land. Before Damien embarks on leaving he is witness to horrible atrocities that the fercious Black and Tans have committed. At this point he has clearly made up his mind and decides to join the resistance with his brother Teddy. The two brothes decide to allign forces against England, hoping that England will retreat and be forced to sign a treaty.  A treaty is eventually signed but is regarded unfair by a particular population resulting in the war resuming causing hatred in Britain and Ireland.

This exciting film is directed by Ken Loach who attended last night’s event.
Director Ken Loach has never succumbed to the casting glamorous call of Hollywood unlike his other contemporaries. His brand of British socialism would not be comprehended well here in the United States. Mr. loach studied law at St. Peter’s College in Oxford and toured with a repertory company before becoming a respected director. “The Wind That Shakes The Barley” won best coveted Palme d’Or 2006 Award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Other films Mr Loach has directed and have won previous years have been: Hidden Agenda (1990) won the Special Jury Prize at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival; Riff-Raff (1990) won the Felix award  for Best European Film of 1992; Raining Stones  (1993) won the Cannes Special Jury Prize for 1993, and ‘Land and Freedom’ won the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival.

Other celebrities that attended the screening were Padraic Delaney, Martain de Cogain and Jonathan Sehring.

My source also revealed that the star of the film Cillion Murpy who plays Damien arrived intoxicated smelling like a Vodka and Gin mill and could care less about his publicity photos being taken. Apparently an event photographer approached him to set up shots and Cillion replied in his charming Irish brogue, “No, I am done, No, I am done, No, I am done”, and then replied “Talk to the Hand” before his publicist intervened. Clearly he was totally disheveled looking and incoherent.
